Can I convert my metal frame bed to a platform bed?

I currently have a full-size bed frame. It’s metal and has a headboard. I’m using it for a box spring and coil mattress, but I want to get a memory foam mattress and I heard that I should put it on a flat surface instead of a box spring. So I’m trying to save money and just convert my current bed frame to a platform bed somehow. Does any one know how I can do this? I was thinking I could just go to Lowes or somewhere and get some plywood and place it in the metal frame, but would that be enough?
